Wildfire Awareness Week is May 6-12, and King County’s Forestry Program is working with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and area fire districts to help communities take steps to keep safe in the event of wildfire.

On Sunday, June 3, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the American Legion Building in Carnation, the public is welcome to attend a reception honoring the men and women who served our great nation and the cause of freedom during World War II.

Local Olympian, Amy Tryon, will be remembered

On April 12, Amy Tryon, a former Olympic equestrian and fire fighter with Eastside Fire & Rescue, passed away in her sleep at her home near Duvall. She was only 42 years old.

KCFD 45 Fire Chief returns $1.295 mil in unspent bond money

The recent downturn in the economy has led King County Fire District 45 (the District) to return $1,295,000 of unspent bond money to its taxpayers. The original bond of $4.2 million was passed in 2000 for the purpose of building two new fire stations. The Duvall station headquarters was completed in 2003 with a station on the eastern portion of the District to be built with remaining funds.

When Jeannie’s not training guide dogs, she’s driving Eastside seniors to their medical appointments.

Jeannie is a busy woman. She has teenage grand kids, loves to sew, and spends quite a bit of her time traveling. But her two great loves are training guide dogs, like Webster, and driving with Senior Services’ Volunteer Transportation Program.
