Lumber was purchased by the school board, and the building was done by the parents and children. “A break in the day’s routine came often for the older boys. At the toot of a boat whistle, they rushed down to the swinging bridge to help turn it aside. Boats came up the river starting in the 1890’s to l9l7.”{note: These paddle wheels steamboats could not go under this first bridge in the area, so it was built to turn to a middle support.)as well as the basketball court.”
