Funnel Cloud
Leanne Christensen took this photo from her home in Monroe of the Funnel Cloud that formed in Monroe back on Friday June 4th at around 5pm. It turned out that the cloud was not a tornado as many people had suggested. The cloud never did touch down and was visible for nearly 10 minutes. Funnel clouds are fairly common in Washington, but tornados are not. This state averages only about 2 official tornados per year. There has been only one deadly tornado ever recorded in Washington’s history. It touched down in Vancouver, WA in April of 1972. It ended up killing 6 people and injuring 300.
