Local Jacob Jewell, age 12, has made it to the Team Championship level of the Hit, Pitch and Run competition and will be participating on June 20 at Safeco field
The Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run is a baseball skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities.
Jacob won the all-around at the local level which was sponsored by Sno-Valley North Little League. He then went on the Sectional completion at Rainier Stadium in Tacoma. He won the all-around there as well, then his family eagerly awaited news on whether he would advance to the next level. From each geographic market, there are only three competitors for each age group selected.
On Friday, Jacob and his family received the Fed Ex letter giving him the good news--that he was selected to advance!
There are 30 Team Championships across the country, and the all-around winners for each age group will have the chance to go on to the National Finals held at the All-Star Game which will be played on July 13th at the California Angles stadium in Anahiem. Winners advancing to the Finals get to shag balls at the home run derby and go to the All-Star game as well.
Jacob’s mother, Jeanette, says that “Baseball is his number one sport and he works very hard at improving his skills on a daily basis.”
Jacob may well be the first kid in our area who has made it this far in the competition--to the Team Championships.
