Valley Visioning in the Park, Public Invited
Transition Snoqualmie Valley invites the community to commemorate 9/11 by creating a shared vision for a better community and planet. Activities are scheduled throughout the weekend at the Carnation Tree Farm and Tolt Mac- Donald Park. Participants can attend any or all events.
On Friday evening, campers will set up in the park or at the Tree Farm. Participants will gather for opening words and old-fashioned campfire songfest with S’mores.
On Saturday from 9-3 an Awakening the Dreamer Symposium at the Carnation Tree Farm by John McConnell and Virginia Rhoads. The “Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream” Symposium is a profound inquiry into a bold vision: to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, and socially just human presence on Earth. Participants explore what this vision means for self and community, and explore the opportunity to create a sustainable and just future.
Suggested Donation $25; Lunch is provided (www.awakeningthedreamer. org).
On Saturday from 3:30 through 8:00 PM, at the Tolt- Macdonald Barn Shelter, Valley participants will take part in a visioning process through world café conversations and group and individual creative expression. Participants will envision a future beyond peak oil, climate change and the current economic crisis and how to transition to that future. This unique interactive event will engage all participants in a process through each individual’s preferred methods of expression. The evening will culminate in presentations by participant groups; readings, describing, and displaying the future through their visions for a better world. Suggested Donation $10; Please bring a sack lunch/ dinner. (No alcohol allowed in the park).
On Sunday, from 9:30 through 3:00 at the Carnation Tree farm, participants will learn and share in a marketplace of ideas. In an “open space technology” exploring “Where Do We Go From Here?”
This event is structured to accommodate the interests of all attending in meaningful conversations, sharing of ideas and skills, and in making connections. Participants can add ideas for a topic to the marketplace grid, or just drop by tables where topics are being discussed. Some topics already proposed are “know your watershed,” “local currency,” “free agency-working from home,” “alternative transportation” and “alternative energy.”
Suggested Donation $5. Please bring a sack lunch.
