Photo by Joan Campbell On Monday, January 9, the Lady Redwolves hosted the Tigers of Granite Falls. Both teams had identical league records of 3-2. Cedarcrest’s tough defense held the Cascade League leading scorer, Peyton Spencer to just 9 points. A balanced scoring attack by the Lady Red Wolves gave them the conference win 53- 33. CHS had three players score in double digits: Susan Kenney made 15 points, Sarah Stauffer scored 12 including two 3-pointers, and Kailyn Campbell added 11.

The following Wednesday, CHS traveled to Sultan in another conference match-up. A slow start and cold shooting in the first half made the halftime score 15-8 in Cedarcrest’s favor. In the second half, the Redwolves increased the pace and shot 13 for 17 from the free throw line to win the game 38-27. Susan Kenney and Kailyn Campbell both made 10 points in the game.

On Friday, the Lady Red Wolves hosted Coupeville for their second match-up of the season. Coupeville came out shooting very well and played scrappy defense to lead the game at half time 20-18. In the third quarter, the Red Wolves started running and outscored Coupeville 16-6 finishing the game with the win 47-37. Cedarcrest’s Susan Kenney led all scorers with 22 points.

The Lady Red Wolves are now in 3rd place in the Cascade Conference with a league record of 6-2 and overall record of 10-4.

Games were cancelled last week due to inclement weather. The CHS girls’ basketball now faces 8 games over the next 15 days of the remaining winter season. Stay tuned to the River Current News for details!
